The state of Texas which is also called as Lone Star State is ranked first in the United States in Christianity. Austin being its capital and Houston its largest city, Texas is rated 2nd in Population. Almost most of the people in Texas were Evangelical Protestants and has a major share for 84.14% - white. Moreover, Roman Catholic missionaries brought Christianity to Texas. The Providence Church in Bastrop County in 1834 was the first Baptist church organized in Texas, and Moses Gage, who served the church, was the first man licensed to preach in the territory.
